The Institute for Modern Conflict, Diplomacy, & Reconciliation
NEW: IMCDR Courses Towards Graduate Certificate in Strategic Studies
Missions
The missions of the Institute for Modern Conflict, Diplomacy & Reconciliation include the following:
- To coordinate a continuing program of preservation of archival materials and artifacts relating to the Vietnam war and the Post Vietnam War era (essentially, from 1950 to the present).
- To coordinate the activities of the Department of Aerospace Science and the Department of Military Science within the broader scope of the university.
- To guide and seek funding for the component centers: Vietnam Center and Center for War & Diplomacy in the Post-Vietnam War Era.
- To encourage continuing study of all aspects of the American Vietnam experience, and also the post-Vietnam War era experience, including the Global War on Terror.
- To engage in activities that further the process of international reconciliation.
Vision
The Institute for Modern Conflict, Diplomacy & Reconciliation will develop as the premiere archive-based research facility focusing on America in the world from 1950 to the present. As such it will guide the continuing development of its component research centers and archives, following our established precedent of giving equal attention to all points of view on all issues.
The Institute also will exploit relationships developed by the component centers to pursue opportunities for projects and interactions that would further the cause of international reconciliation. Ultimately, the Institute will offer periodic conferences relating to issues of reconciliation.
The Institute also will house the Departments of Aerospace Science and Military Science, affording them an appropriate home within the university.
